Students and their parents gathered Wednesday night to learn about all the new performing arts opportunities coming their way this year and to meet our fabulous new theatre director, Layne MacPherson. We are proud to announce the following shows for our 2022-23 school year.
Art students were challenged this first week to flex their problem-solving muscles. To do this they were asked to work in small groups to create a floatation device that could hold weighted bolts only using the limited supplies given. To be successful at this, they needed to think outside of the box, experiment, collaborate, design, evaluate and redesign. These are the skills our art students will be building this year through their art projects. All our groups did a wonderful job, but it was duo AJ Christian and Charlotte Leber who came out on top with a device that held 11 heavy bolts! Inspired by the photographic work by artists Tatsuya Tanaka and Erin Sullivan, our Intro to Photography students took tiny figures on adventures in the art room and around campus to see how life looks from their perspective. The goal of this project was interesting compositions and selective focus. They did an outstanding job! The new mural for the Upper Building was just completed this week. This was a collaborative project done by our 9th-12th Art Club/National Arts Honor Society. The initial design idea was by 12th grader Randall Robinson. The final design and painting was completed by the entire group over many weeks. Artists:
