Mill Springs Academy school won 1st place overall at the GISA Literary & Music Festival, AND several students going on to the State competition on March 14, in Valdosta, GA! Everyone that attended did a fabulous job. A lot of work goes into preparation for the Festival, some of them have been preparing their dramatic and musical pieces for months. The essayists are given a topic upon arrival and write their essay there and then those are judged. At the State competition, Sammy Mishkin- 1st place in state, piano, Cartwright Ayres- 5th place in state, dramatic interpretation (acting) ((***NOTE they discovered there was a judging error after, so his score may be adjusted to more accurately be 1st or 2nd place!! Jack Hurtsellers, Bryce Zimmerman, Nick Tate, Collins Losson- 4th place in state, boys' quartet (singing) and Bryce Zimmerman- 6th place in state, boys' solo (singing) These students have worked sooo hard this year, giving up lunches and breaks to make this happen. Sammy also accompanies our singers... a big time commitment. All of these boys have really been demonstrating leadership R/L behaviors through all of this, while sharing their awesome talents too.
