HAUNTED HOUSES & Scary Phobias by Middle and Upper School Art StudentsThe senior class of 2023 created ceramic bells to honor their classmate Grayson Cloy. The bells now hang on the beautiful tree planted in his honor. Our 9th - 12th grade art club took a field trip down to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens last week to go see the newest art installation by Thomas Dambo, Trolls. The exhibition is Dambo’s latest exploration in crafting giant trolls – ranging from 15 feet tall to 25 feet wide – with an environmental call. Dambo tells an evolved story of listening and tending to nature, further building on the Nordic-inspired tales and artist-made poems surrounding the many other larger-than-life trolls that co-exist in various locations around the world. These young artists also viewed the garden's other permanent art institutions such as glasswork by artist Dale Chihuly and the famous Earth Goddess topiary by Mosaïcultures Internationales de Montréal. It was a wonderfully inspiring day! The MSA Studio Art Gallery & Reception was blast this year with some amazing creative works of art, fabulous music and a special visit from the cast of the Wizard of Oz! Featuring the cast of this year's musical production of The Wizard of Oz!
Our photography students recently took a field trip to downtown Milton to participate in a special photo shoot as part of their study of architectural photography. It was an overcast day which made for a perfect photography day to be outside with all that natural diffused light. It was great to take advantage of the beautiful spot right down the street. The students all came back with some wonderful photographs. |
